If you need a different length or want to save time, return the gas spring and place a new order for the item you want – that way you will receive the new item faster. Once we receive the return, we will refund the purchase amount via your original payment method.

That depends on the application: universal gas struts are suitable for vertical installation (e.g. bed storage lids, kitchen cabinets, roof windows, tailgates), dynamic gas struts can be installed in any position (e.g. tractor doors, tables), gas traction springs pull the piston rod in and are used for heavy ramps that open towards the ground, and lockable gas springs can be stopped in any position. The key factors for choosing the right force are the flap weight, the mounting points, the lever ratios and the opening angle. Practical example: a 50 kg lid typically needs 2 gas struts of 650 N each – in theory 2 × 500 N would be enough, but a safety margin of 150 N ensures more stable and longer-lasting operation.
No. "Shock absorbers" often refers to the large suspension dampers on a vehicle's wheels – we do not sell those. Our products are gas springs and gas dampers: the small dampers found, for example, on tailgates, boot lids and bonnets. They hold flaps open safely, balance the weight and dampen the movement when opening and closing.

For optimal performance, the gas strut must be installed with the piston rod pointing downwards. Protect the piston rod from dust, paint and damage, and do not remove the warning label. The operating temperature range is -30 °C to 80 °C, and the extension speed is 0.1–0.3 m/s. Universal gas struts should be used in pairs wherever possible – this distributes the load evenly, increases safety and significantly extends the service life.

If a defect occurs, Ausmachine will, at its own discretion, repair the product, replace it or refund the purchase price. For warranty claims, please have the original invoice and the serial number of the gas spring ready – all Ausmachine gas springs carry a serial number. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected by this guarantee.
