Lockable Gas Springs – Infinitely Adjustable, Rigid or Flexible Locking

Lockable gas springs have special areas of application and must not be used as a substitute of standard Gas springs 

The lockable gas springs allow the piston rod to be locked in any position. In all types, the piston rod moves outward when the button is pressed. When explaining gas spring movement, we actually take into account the direction in which the piston rod moves.

Rigid in pressure direction BLC

If the oil is between the piston rod and the cylinder base, the blockage is rigid in the pressure direction. If the piston rod works under a load in the compression direction, this means that it moves with resistance in the compression direction.

Most common areas of application: including medicine, hospital beds, beds for physiotherapy, wheelchairs, equipment for rehabilitation applications, ambulances, fire engines.

Rigid in pull direction BLE

The oil (non-compressible) of the gas spring with rigid blocking in the direction of pull is located between the piston and the guide, the nitrogen at the cylinder base. For example, if you sit on an office chair and push the piston rod in the pulling direction, the piston rod resists this pressure and gains speed according to the force you apply.

Most common areas of application: office chairs, workshop benches, adjustable tables, massage chairs, among others.

Flexible BLF

Due to the fact that the piston is in a pure nitrogen atmosphere (compressible), the blockage at standstill is not absolute. The result is an “elastic effect” of blocking in both tension and compression directions.

Most common areas of application: including in the articulated arms of wall-mounted devices.
